This was a wonderful morning.  We started at Mundaring Arts Centre and viewed some of the Shire of Mundaring's art acquisitions.  The exhibition “celebrates 40 years of creative practice and the enduring contribution of artists who document the artistic and cultural shifts of the Shire of Mundaring.  Since acquiring its first artwork in 1986 the Shire has

supported local artists and craftspeople by presenting an annual exhibition.”

After enjoying time there and some taking of advantage of our membership discount we drove on down to the Midland Arts Centre for the biennial “Stitched & Bound”.  The artists featured are “encouraged to work outside the quilt format and push the boundaries of the medium………”.  We were fascinated by the Artist in Residence Janine Judge who uses fabric collage with thread-painted details.  She was working on a quilt informed by her recent participation in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.  Amazing work.

We adjourned to nearby Dome for sustenance before heading home.
