A fascinating morning at Perth's iconic Bell Tower, from the 360 degree views of the city and Swan River from the observation deck on level 6 and everything in between. On level 5, the majestic 6,500 kg Anzac Bell is housed; on the belfry level 3 we could see the 12 historic bells from St Martins in the Field, Trafalgar Square, in all their glory. They have celebrated the coronation of every British monarch since George ll in 1727; and rang in the New Year in Trafalgar Square for over 275 years. On level 1 we were introduced to the oldest bell in Australia - the 459 kg. Upton Grey Bell, cast over 450 years ago in approximately 1550. And it was on level one, we entered the bell ringing chamber, where our guide Dessi, elaborated on the history of the Bell Tower and the bells and where we each had a minute or two pulling on the ropes to ring the bells. Afterwards the Blue Cat took us on the scenic route via Kings Park to Perth station and in Mundaring some of us adjourned to the pub for a late lunch.
