It seemed a shame to be inside on a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon, but it was worth it! Rod McGrath and Jon Tooby performed David Popper's Suite for Two Cellos Op 16, which Rod described as 'fiendishly difficult' and certainly tested the players' dexterity.

Another duo of Semra Lee-Smith, Violin and Sally Boud, Viola played Halvorsen's Passacaglia in G Minor on a theme by Handel. It has been called the 'impossible duet" and as Semra implied "if the cellists can do it, so can we"! More sustained applause followed the frenetic playing.

After the interval Zak Rowntree, Violin, joined the other performers for Schubert's Suite for Two Cellos Op 16 -better known as his Quintet in C Major.

The afternoon provided a musical feast. Afterwards we enjoyed High Tea catered for by the ladies of St Cuthbert's Anglican Church.
