Saturday evening saw a group of Spokes heading to Kalamunda for the Theatre 180 production of The Lighthouse Girl - Saga. It was amazing! Striking visuals, evocative sound and innovative staging transported the audience with the 1st AIF convoy as it embarked from King George Sound, Albany and farewelled Australia from the beacon of the lighthouse at Breaksea Island, to the hell of Gallipoli, the mud in the trenches at the Western Front, a nurse's compassion in rural England and peaceful horizons in country Victoria. Particularly poignant was the depiction of Sandy the only one of 136,000 horses sent to war who returned to Australia.
